How To Care for Hydroseeded Lawn

Jan 11

The job has just begun after your grass received the hydroseeding CT. You'll have to give your newly hydroseeded lawn some TLC.

How do I achieve the best results from hydroseeding?

  • Hydroseed must be watered only once a day, for between 10 and 20 minutes at a time.

  • In 2-7 days, the color of the green will fade.

  • Watering should be done between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. (Remember to water after dark).

  • Based on the season and the weather conditions your choices for frequency of watering. It is recommended to water more frequently and over longer periods of time. You can also reduce the frequency of watering during the cool autumn months and for shorter periods.

  • To be able to germinate properly Hydroseeds must be kept in a moist environment. The soil shouldn't have to be soaked all the time.

  • Don't leave water on your lawn. Instead, keep it damp and moist. Reduce the frequency you water your lawn in the next 4-6 weeks.

HYDROSEEDING CT MAINTENANCE & CARE:

How do you keep your hydro seeds alive?

In the event of germination that is adequate, germination will begin at certain locations within 10-14 days. Then, the lawn will be ready to be mowed in six to eight weeks. Within 6-9 months, the lawn will have developed fully.

For the first six weeks, you should avoid driving within the areas that have been planted.

Certain areas are more successful than others due to various amounts of sunlight shade, water, and water. This is typical for all hydroseed applications. When the lawn starts to grow after about 4-5 weeks, it's a best practice to scrape the thin spots and seed some of them with a hand to help things along. Combine fescue, rye, and Kentucky bluegrass for the best results.

You are highly advised to apply an 18-24-12 beginning fertilizer to your lawn two weeks after you have hydroseeded it. An additional application of the fertilizer can be applied three weeks after that application. Do not apply any kind of weed control on the lawn in the initial 10-12 weeks.

There are weeds that may be growing on your lawn. After the grass has grown and you're ready to apply the weed control fertilizer to eliminate the weeds.

The first time you mow your lawn will occur approximately 5 weeks after the lawn was hydroseeded. It is advised to cut the grass when it is dry by using a push lawnmower. This will avoid injury to the new seedlings. Before you begin mowing it is recommended to suspend water for a few days to allow the soil to completely dry. The clippings should be left on the lawn but clumps must not be put on the lawn because they could harm the new seeds.

Do not let your lawn become too high. After that, cutting the lawn to a moderate size, will most likely hurt the grass and make it hard to return to a healthy state. Employ someone to mow your lawn for you if you're going on vacation or will not be able to keep it mowed for longer than an entire week. Never mow more than 1/3 of the height of your lawn with a single mowing. If your lawn has grown too tall and has become a mess, you must wait for at least 4-5 days prior to mowing it to a height of around 3".

We will return to you to revive your Hydroseeding Connecticut area at half the price if it's washed away by storms or other weather conditions.
